Calgary’s latest redeveloped mall is proving to be a big hit with Calgarians.

The downtown CORE, formerly known as Calgary Eaton Centre-TD Square, celebrated its multi-million dollar renovation Wednesday night with a bang as more than 7,500 people came to see another example of the changing landscape of urban Calgary.

And the good news is that about $40,000 was raised to support two local non-profits – the National Music Centre and the United Way’s ‘BeCause’ initiative.

There was also a  special holiday performance by Juno Award Winning artist Chantal Kreviazuk, and other performances around the Centre from local artists.

The CORE is another reason to celebrate Calgary’s growing retail presence in Canada as it boasts 160 stores, including the flagship Holt Renfrew, Harry Rosen, Brooks Brothers,  H & M and next generation food facilities accommodating 900 people.

The CORE features a spectacular skylight and next spring a redeveloped Devonian Gardens, attached to the mall, will also open.
